Democratic Utah Congressman Jim Matheson says sequestration or sweeping federal budget cuts that went into effect Friday are a collective failure of Congressional leadership in both parties.

Representative Matheson says everyone in Congress agrees that 85 billion dollars of spending needs to be cut from the federal budget, but he says sequestration is not the way to do it.

Democratic Congressman Jim Matheson criticized fiscal decisions made by his opponent, Republican fourth congressional candidate Mia Love, Monday, as Mayor of Saratoga Springs.

During a press conference at his campaign headquarters in West Jordan, Matheson criticized Mia Love’s record of increasing taxes while Mayor of Saratoga Springs. He says it shows that her actions don’t match her campaign rhetoric of lowering taxes.

Matheson Endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Democratic Congressman Jim Matheson got an enthusiastic endorsement from the U-S Chamber of Commerce Tuesday . The organization is launching a voter education initiative to support pro-business candidates.

The Chamber supports small business and the organization is endorsing lawmakers during this election season that vote at least seventy percent of the time in favor of their issues. Rob Engstrom is the national political director for the Chamber. He says Matheson has voted with his group nearly eighty percent of the time.
