  • OLD AUDIO SERVER REPLACED WITH NEW HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE - JANUARY, 2009.
KUER puts new audio servers into service. **PLEASE NOTE, Windows Media Player and Windows Vista are currently not streaming correctly with the new servers. Please use another media player, like iTunes or Winamp or see the list of players here.
  •

  • AUDIO SOFTWARE UPGRADED June 10, 2005.
KUER announces an upgrade to our audio software. We are now using icecast 2.2.0. This will enable our listeners to make use of a greater variety of media players to access our audio files. If you experience problems with our streaming audio features, please contact cjohnson@kuer.org Chad Johnson - 581-5662 with your questions. Please include the Operating System and media player information in your correspondence.

    How-to
  • WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN...
Clicking the above URLs will tell your computer you want to listen to an mp3 stream. Before the computer opens the program that has control of mp3 files, it may ask you if you want to Open or Save the file. (Your experience may be slightly different if you don't use Windows and Internet Explorer, the most common platform.) Click Open, since Saving the file (which is endless) is impossible. Then, a program like iTunes, Winamp, or Windows Media Player will open. We recommend using the latest version of these players. Some other players will also work, if they support mp3 streams. To get these programs, use the links in our list of players.
  •

  • BUT THIS MIGHT HAPPEN...
Instead of a program opening automatically, you may have to tell the computer what program to use to listen to the audio. By clicking on Browse..., you can find the program you need. Go to the folder where programs or applications are stored (usually Program Files on a PC, for instance). Look for names like, Winamp or Real. Make sure you open the program (it should have its own logo and end in .exe)

From this point, the player should open and play the file for you. If you get a message saying the file cannot be read, you'll have to download something: either a newer version of the player you were using, or a different player as recommended in our list of players (below).

If you get a different message, please check our FAQ or cjohnson@kuer.org . You may need more specific help, or our server could be down. Please always include the OS, browser, and media player used and other information about what you've already tried.

  • I NEED A PLAYER...
  • There are several free programs to choose from.
NOTE** Windows Media Player has a buffering problem after the last IceCast upgrade. Click the PLAY button to start the Listen Live stream.

If you use an IBM-compatible PC
    running Microsoft Windows, try
    iTunes, Winamp 5.05 . Windows Media Player 10 .

If you use an Apple Macintosh
(like an iMac or PowerBook), try
    Audion 3 or iTunes.

If you use Linux, try XMMS.
