Select A Candidate is an online game created by American Public Media which allows users to respond to a variety of the questions Presidential candidates are being asked. Users choose the response that best fits their opinion and rank the importance of that particular issue to them. Based on their responses and the responses of all major party candidates, the game reflects back to the user which candidates most closely fit their values.
In addition to identifying which candidate best reflects the user's opinions, Select A Candidate displays all the candidates and the points on which the user agrees or disagrees with each candidate's platform. The game also displays cumulative results from all users and allows users to compare their results with those from other demographic groups. Stated candidate positions are linked to their respective citations.
This game does not tell users how to vote, but introduces users to each candidate and that candidate's position on issues important to the user. The "Candidate Position" section of the game provides an excellent documented summary of the positions of all major party candidates on today's issues. The game also contains user instructions and "Frequently Asked Questions" about how the scoring, questions, ranking and data collection works.
