Wired Magazine appeared in San Francisco riding a perfect storm of technological revolution, blind optimism and idealism. Gary Wolf's book, "Wired -- A Romance" is a story about the technology bubble from its white hot center, the magazine that both reported and was the future: Wired. Wired was supposed to be the next media empire, the head of the digital revolution but Wired's plans were built on a bubble.
