Hamilton The Musical Coming To Salt Lake City

Zions Bank Broadway at the Eccles
Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos, and Lin-Manuel Miranda perform in Hamilton

The hottest musical on Broadway right now will soon be coming to Salt Lake City.

On the night the hit musical won 11 Tony Awards, the producers of the national tour of Hamilton announced they will bring the show to the brand new Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City for the 2017 – 2018 Season.

Hamilton is the story of Alexander Hamilton, his role in the founding of America, and his death at the hands of Aaron Burr. It’s run on Broadway has been a smash success and getting tickets to the show is next to impossible.

Steve Boulay is the COO of MagicSpace Entertainment, the company that produces the Broadway at the Eccles series. He says the new Eccles Theater is the only reason why Salt Lake is getting the show so quickly.

“It bumped us up probably two full seasons," he says. "We might have seen the show in 2019 – 2020 and now we’re seeing it the same time it’s going to go to Seattle, and L.A. and San Francisco. It’s a home run.”

The new theater located on Main street in downtown is scheduled to be completed in October. Beautiful, The Carole King Musical, will be the first show to open there on November 15.

Season ticket holders for the inaugural season who renew for the 2017 – 2018 season will be the first to get offered tickets to see Hamilton. A date has not yet been set for when general admission tickets will become available, and while getting tickets here will likely be easier than getting them in New York, you’d still better act fast or you might just miss your shot.
