KUER's Holiday Lineup

KUER has a special lineup planned for your holiday season.

Monday, December 24: Join KUER for a special RadioWest episode at 9 a.m. (rebroadcast at 7 p.m.) about A Christmas Carol. Explore how the Dickens' classic reinvented the way we celebrate the holiday — and revived Dickens' flagging career.

Following RadioWest, stay tuned for A Christmas Carol performed by the late, great comedian Jonathan Winters at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 8 p.m.). The first hour of 1A will not air on Monday, Dec 24. 

In the evening, stay tuned to hear "Happy(ish) Holidays" from the popular podcast Terrible, Thanks for Asking where host Nora McInerny is joined by special guests for an honest talk about why some people aren't so jolly during this difficult time of year. Latino USA will not air on Monday, Dec. 24. 

Tuesday, December 25: RadioWest will be sharing two great holiday stories at 9 a.m. (rebroadcast at 7 p.m.), including Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory" and Ron Carlson's "H Street Sledding Record."

Tune in at 10 a.m. for a special from Selected Shorts titled "Tough Love for the Holidays." Guest host Robert Sean Leonard will present 3 holiday stories with a twist, including "The Fir Tree," by Hans Christian Anderson, "Interview with God" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Kurt Vonnegut's "A Present for Big Saint Nick." The first hour of 1A will not air on Tuesday, Dec 25. 

JD McPherson and his band will perform a concert of original Christmas songs on Fresh Air (airing a 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.).

At 6:30 p.m., tune in as James Coomarasamy hosts the annual BBC Newshour Quiz, which tests Newshour presenters on their knowledge of 2018 events and newsmakers. The Daily will not air on Tuesday, Dec 25.

And then at 9 p.m., join us for reSound: The Twisted Xmas Show, featuring "No Santa" (warning: not for kids), and exploration ov Vince Guaraldi's legendary Charlie Brown Christmas score and much more. TED Radio Hour will not air on Tuesday, Dec. 25.

Monday, December 31: 

Tune in for Marketplace's "A Divided Decade" at 6 p.m. Marketplace has spent the year eploring how the 2018 financial crisis changed America. "Divided Decade" draws a line from 2008 to the tumultuous political, cultural and economic climate America is experiencing today. Hosted by Kai Ryssdal. Marketplace and The Daily will not air on Monday, Dec. 31.

Tuesday, January 1: Airing at 2 p.m., tune in for the Correspondent's Look Ahead 2019 hosted by Lyse Doucet. She'll be joined by BBC senior correspondents who share their predictions for the big news stories of the year. The World will not air on Tuesday, Jan. 1.
