Dr. Johnathan Lancaster, MD, PhD, is the chief medical officer of Myriad. He says the company has evolved over the past 25 years from a lab that tested for two types of breast cancer to one that identifies 28 genes for hereditary cancer.
“So we really bring forth a complete portfolio of tests that are increasingly critical to physicians in the community as they embrace the tidal wave of precision medicine," says Lancaster, "and all the opportunities that provides to enhance patient care.”
Lancaster says Myriad’s research will continue to evolve and patients will benefit from the new information.
“That’s important because genetic testing is not a snapshot in time that stays stationary,” Lancaster says.
