After hearing James Ballou's life story, many people wonder how he's even alive. The youngest son of a drug dealer, Ballou grew up surrounded by rampant drug use, sex, violence and abuse. But the boy wasn't destroyed - he survived the destructive forces by embracing the philosophy that we are who we choose to be.
