Members of the Salt Lake City council and newly elected Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams joined volunteers to give a helping hand at the Utah Food Bank today. The event was part of a day of service honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“It’s kind of hard but it’s fun. We’ve been kicking the boxes around pretending that we’re playing soccer and everyone’s in a good mood because we’re all hyped up on coffee and donuts,” says Laurel Conde.
Democrat Ben McAdams was sworn in as Salt Lake County Mayor this morning by Salt Lake County 3rd district juvenile court Judge Andrew Valdez at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. McAdams, Deputy Mayor Nichole Dunn and newly elected council members Max Burdick, Jim Bradley, Michael Jensen and Sam Granato all took the oath of office before a packed theater.
The Greater Salt Lake Unified Police Federation and Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder announced this morning they’re endorsing Democrat Ben McAdams for Salt Lake County Mayor. The support comes a week after Winder denounced McAdams’ opponent, Republican Mark Crockett’s jail services proposal.
Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder says the county does not need an autocratic leader, but rather a diplomatic one.
