Saturday, September 24: RadioWest and Silent Film

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – KUER public radio invites listeners to take a reprieve from the high-tech world with an evening of silent film on Saturday, September 24th at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre. The box office will open at 5:45 p.m. (Please note that there was a date error in Friday's Deseret News column.)

NPR's film critic Bob Mondello will join KUER's Doug Fabrizio of RadioWest for a silent film discussion and a screening of Buster Keaton's The General. The soundtrack will be provided by organist Blaine Gale who will play the Capitol Theatre's Mighty Wurlitzer organ. The presentation will air live on KUER FM90 at 7 p.m. on the 24th. In keeping with the spirit of the silent film era, a 25 cent donation is requested at the door for admission to the RadioWest and film. Audience members are invited to dress in period clothing. This event is co-sponsored by Salt Lake County.
