Salt Lake City, UT – When it was revealed that Congressman Mark Foley had sent explicit text messages to young male pages, a fragile balance within the Republican Party was thrown off kilter. Gay people within the GOP have always had to delicately maneuver among a conservative base that is suspicious of what it calls the "gay agenda." Now, Foley has dredged up some old stereotypes - that homosexuals are obsessed with sex, or worse, inclined toward pedophilia. What does all of this mean for gay Americans, and just what is their place in the party of George W. Bush?
