6/3/09: Novelist Andre Dubus III
Salt Lake City, UT – Hemingway said, "The job of the writer is not to judge, but to seek to understand." It's an idea that's important to author Andre Dubus III. His latest novel, The Garden of Last Days, is populated with characters that would be easy to look down on - a stripper and a 9/11 hijacker. But Dubus says if he brings his own opinion to bear while he writes, it kills the fiction. Andre Dubus is coming to Utah later this month. Wednesday, he joins Doug to talk about finding beauty in a world of ugliness.
On Tuesday, June 16th, Andre Dubus III will be at The King's English Bookshop in Salt Lake City. The reading begins at 7:00 p.m. For details, call the store at (801) 484-9100 or click here
