1/5/11: Through the Lens with Frederick Wiseman

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, Utah – Wednesday, we begin a new series on documentary filmmaking with acclaimed director Frederick Wiseman. Since the early 1960s, Wiseman has focused his lens on the institutions of society, from a hospital for the criminally insane to a high school to a state legislature. We'll talk to him about his spare style and about the voices that have spoken through his films. Then on Thursday evening, join Doug and Wiseman for a screening of Wiseman's 1967 film Titicut Follies.

KUER's RadioWest is partnering with the SLC Film Center to present the documentary film series "Through the Lens." Tune into RadioWest, then join us Thursday, January 6th at 7:00 p.m. for a free screening of Frederick Wiseman's "Titicut Follies" at the Salt Lake City Library. A Q&A session with Wiseman will follow the screening. For more information, click here for more information on Thursday's screening.

Wiseman's new film "Boxing Gym" opens Friday, January 7th at the Tower Theatre in Salt Lake City. For details, visit the Salt Lake Film Society on-line
