11/14/11: Living on a Food Stamp Budget

Salt Lake City, Utah – Monday, we're talking about poverty in America and the reality for people coping with food hardship. According to the most recent statistics from the Census Bureau, more than 49 million Americans are living below the poverty line, and those who rely on food stamp assistance get $4 per person per day to feed their families. We'll look at what that money puts on the table and ask how the face of poverty has changed throughout our nation's history.

  • Utahns Against Hunger is wrapping up it's Food Stamp Challenge. Tuesday, November 15 at Noon at the University of Utah's Goodwill Humanitarian Building, there'll be a panel discussion with people who participated in the challenge and on hunger in Utah. For more information, click here
  • Visit Chef Karl Wilder's blog Fusion on the Fly, where he details his 2 months of eating on a food stamp budget.
