In Amongthe Ten Thousand Things (Random House), the debut novel of familial strife by Julia Pierpont, children and teenagers cope with the complexities of the adult world.  Betsy Burton says Pierpont “portrays her characters with an ocean of compassion and an insistent honesty that is both convincing and a little scary.”

Then, there are musical legends among us this week in Salt Lake City.  Rush is celebrating their 40-year career at the Maverik Center on Monday, July 13th

On Thursday, July 16th, indie-rock pioneers Death Cab for Cutie kicks off this year’s Twilight Concert Series.

Morrissey first rose to prominence as the front-man for The Smiths.  Today he stands apart as a massive figure in the world of rock & roll and pop music.  His show at The Depot on Saturday, July 18th, is currently listed as sold out.  Check The Depot’s website for updates.

On Sunday, July 19, soul singing queen Mavis Staples brings her tremendous vocals to Red Butte Garden.
