A new study by Envision Utah says 99-percent of Utahns are willing to do something personally to help improve air quality. Envision CEO Robert Grow says respondents were willing to avoid idling, combine trips and even trade in older cars to make a contribution. Grow says there’s enough civic commitment in Utah to have a real impact.
Grow tells KUER, “The one thing the study shows that is probably its most significant message is that when you test the emotional quotient of why people care about this issue, there are lots of emotional reasons. It impacts their health and the health of their children. It impacts the opportunity to go outside and enjoy the natural environment and have a sense of freedom instead of feeling trapped.”
Grow chairs the Governor’s Clean Air Action Team, which is looking at ideas to help clean up Utah’s unique air pollution problems. The study is available on theEnvision Utah website.
