A Utah ICE operation ending Friday has resulted in the arrest of 82 foreign nationals.
The arrests were made in 22 Utah cities over a 7-day period. According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, those arrested were primarily from Mexico and all had prior criminal convictions, including burglary, forgery, possession of a concealed weapon, driving under the influence, and distribution of a controlled substance.
Salt Lake City field office director for Enforcement and Removal Operations Daniel Bible said in a press release that ICE’s primary immigration enforcement efforts target convicted criminal aliens.
“This was an extremely successful weeklong, statewide operation,” Bible said. Those arrested are being processed for removal from the United States.
