Washington, DC – Supporters of embryonic stem cell research are upping the pressure on Senate leaders to schedule a vote on a bill expanding the studies. The bill undoes a policy laid down by President Bush in 2001 that limited government funding to a handful of stem cell lines already created at the time. Utah Republican Orrin Hatch is one of their staunchest allies and this week, Hatch is lending his Senate clout to getting the popular measure to the Senate Floor.
