It's the end of an era in local TV news.
The familiar booming voice of reporter Rod Decker signed off for the final time Thursday night for Channel 2 news.
The KUTV veteran covered Utah for more than 37 years, spanning six governors, 17,000 stories and a vastly changed media environment.
In a tribute video from Channel 2, Sen. Orrin Hatch and other top elected officials recalled Decker’s signature hard-charging interviews that often put them on the spot.
“He's a good guy," said Hatch. "And that doesn't always mean that he's given me a free ride, it’s always been a tough interview.”
The 76-year-old journalist is a published author and says he plans to write another book about Utah in his retirement.
