Work And Food Stamps
Nearly 700,000 people nationwide could lose food stamps under new federal rules that tighten work requirements, and in Utah, it could hit the poorest county the hardest. The Trump administration announced on Wednesday the change to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, which administers the food stamp program. In Utah, over 170,000 people rely on the aid. Around 400 could potentially lose their benefits, all of whom are in San Juan County. — Jon Reed
Poor Air Quality
Central Utah has been experiencing hazy conditions and poor air quality the last few days. Sensitive groups like those with asthma and heart disease are advised to reduce activity outside, and mandatory action is in place, including recommendations to carpool and a ban on solid fuel burning.
