Your donation of...

What is the Hospital Response Team?
It's a 24/7 team of professional Advocates dispatched to support victims of sexual violence in Salt Lkae County immediately following sexual assault. It is often the first interaction many survivors have following an assault. The team ensures that every survivor who undergoes a Code R has the support and resources they deserve during this physically and emotionally overwhelming process. In 2017, 522 survivors were accompanied by a Hospital Response Team.

What is a Code R?
Within 5 days of sexual assault, all survivors have the option to undergo a "Code R" exam (aka Rape Kit) to collect forensic evidence from the crime. They may also choose to decline the collection of forensic evidence and still seek medical attention. In either case, an HRT Advocate and specialized forensic nurse are dispatched alongside law enforcement to respond.

During a Code R:
• 4-8 hour head to toe forensic examination
• Dispense medications to prevent STIs and pregnancy
• Survivor provides statement
