Marcella Hazan didn’t quite finish her latest book before her death.  So her husband took it in hand and had Ingredienti: Marcella’s Guide to the Market (Scribner) published.  This isn’t a cookbook, though; it’s about ingredients, and the best ways to use them.  Betsy Burton says it’s “a lovely little book, every entry illustrated with a fine line drawing in green ink and each one chockfull of information not just for the neophyte but for the gourmand.”

Then, Austen Diamond’s concert picks this week include Jamestown Revival.  They describe their sound as indie rock with a southern slant.  And they recorded their debut record here in Utah—in a cabin in the Wasatch Mountains.  Jamestown Revival plays at The State Room on Saturday, August 13th.

Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile’s playing at Deer Valley on Saturday, August 13th.

And Lake Street Dive brings their Motown-influenced rock and folk music to Red Butte Garden on Sunday, August 14th.
