Utah Republicans reacted swiftly to the video that surfaced on Friday showing presidential candidate Donald Trump engaging in a lewd conservation about women. Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman was one of the first to revoke his support of Trump and call for him to withdraw from the presidential race.
Senator Mike Lee and Congresswoman Mia Love, both of whom never officially endorsed Trump, also called for the candidate to leave the race.
Senator Orrin Hatch called Trump’s comments offensive and disgusting. Governor Gary Herbert pulled his support on Friday night in the form of a tweet saying he would not vote for the candidate.
Congressman Jason Chaffetz said in an interview on Friday that he was pulling his support and Congressman Chris Stewart called for Trump to step aside in a statement, saying that Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence should lead the GOP efforts to capture the White House.
Congressman Rob Bishop denounced Trump’s comments on women, but said he would still support him over Hillary Clinton for president.
