Will more depleted uranium be coming to Utah?

By Jenny Brundin

Salt Lake City, UT – Whether depleted uranium from around the country will land in Utah one day is a growing concern for some Utah environmentalists. The fact that depleted uranium - what's left over from the uranium used as nuclear fuel or in nuclear weapons - can already legally be stored at Envirocare's landfill near Tooele has them worried. But this week, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is examining the issue of whether or not the waste is safe enough to bury in shallow trenches - as has been the practice at Envirocare's waste disposal facility near Tooele. KUER's Jenny Brundin reports.
