President Lincoln with Secretaries Nicolay and Hay, from Harper's Weekly, June 11, 1864

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – What must have it been like to work for Abraham Lincoln? John Nicolay, John Hay and William Stoddard served as his secretaries - and his confidants during the difficult years of the civil war. Poet-biographer Daniel Mark Epstein has written his third work on Lincoln, and Monday he joins Doug for a look at the 16th presidency from the unique vantage point of those closest to it.
