In The Sympathizer (Grove Press), the debut novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen, a nameless double agent juggles genuine loyalties to friends on both sides of the Vietnam War. Betsy Burton says "this portrayal of a man who sees and understands far more than one perspective is eye-opening--at first cynically amusing, and in the end an indictment not just of war but of the world and the mad, bad way it endlessly turns."

Milo Greene may be the opening act at The Complex on Tuesday, May 12, but Austen Diamond says they'll be the real draw of the evening--no disrespect to the talented headliners Foster the People.

Austen's love of the opener doesn't stop there, though.  Check out Radiation City, opening for The Rentals at Urban Lounge on Wednesday, May 13.

And local crooner Timmy the Teeth releases a new record at Urban Lounge on  Saturday, May 16.
