The Utah Insurance Department will publish next year’s health insurance rates for Obamacare providers in the state today. This year it’s a big jump.

According to Tanji Northrup, the Assistant Commissioner with the insurance department, rates for Obamacare plans will go up an average of 39 percent in Utah in 2018. That’s big. But that’s not even as big as in some places.

"So, on a national basis we’re hearing anywhere from 30 to 50 percent on average. So we’re right in the middle," Northrup says.

Those rates will apply to marketplace plans for Select Health and University of Utah Health Plans.
