Salt Lake City, UT – Five years ago, Erik Stern brought his parents to Ogden, Utah from Los Angeles. One was suffering from a form of dementia. The other was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The experience of caring for them was bewildering, profound, and at times disturbing. Gradually, Stern -- a professor of dance at Weber State University -- began to create a dance theater performance about the experience. As KUER's Jenny Brundin reports, tonight and tomorrow night's performances will entertain, engage and inform.
The Dementia Care conference fee of $45 includes keynote talks, a panel discussion, lunch and dinner and the Friday performance of Demolition Derby. For more information you can call 1-800-272-3900 or www.alz.org/utah.
