Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill has requested the FBI investigate a recent police shooting death of Patrick Harmon.
The DA requested the agency’s assistance on Monday. The shooting of Harmon in Salt Lake City in mid-August drew widespread media attention after bodycam footage was released showing him running from police officers who say he was also threatening them with a knife. The DA’s office ruled the police shooting was justified. Gill says he’s asking the FBI to review the case in an effort to create transparency and preserve public trust in the criminal justice system.
