Utah Football Offensive Coordinator Dave Christensen is leaving the Utes to take a job at Texas A&M.

Several media outlets are reporting that Christensen has accepted a job as the Aggies offensive line coach and run game coordinator.  Christensen played a key role in the Utes 9-4 season that included a win at the Las Vegas Bowl against Colorado State, but he was hired less than year ago.  At Christensen’s introductory press conference in January, Ute head coach Kyle Whittingham was confident that his then new offensive coordinator was the right man for the job.

“We’re on the right track, but we’ve got to get better. We still aren’t good enough offensively, I don’t think there is anyone in this building that will disagree with that and our hope that Dave will help us get to that next level,” said Whittingham.

Christensen’s departure means the Utes will be searching for their eighth offensive coordinator in eight seasons. There are also two defensive coach openings after KalaniSitake and IlaisaTuiaki left Utah for Oregon State earlier this month. Ute Head Coach Kyle Whittingham did not respond to requests for comment.
