6/1/09: Library Square and the Nature of Public Space

Salt Lake City, UT – Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker has proposed a "civic complex" along 300 East in downtown Salt Lake City. His preferred plan would mean police and fire buildings near the City Library. Opponents are worried though that this will change the character of the space the library anchors. Monday, Doug talks to Mayor Becker and others about the proposal - and about the role of public space in the heart of a city.

A public meeting will be held Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Police Department Pioneer Precinct. (1040 West 700 South). To learn more about this and other opportunities to comment, visit the Salt Lake City website.
