7/19/06: Disputing the Water of Snake Valley

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – At its current rate of growth, Las Vegas has enough water to carry it to 2013. That's not much time for the ever-expanding metropolis to develop new water resources. The Southern Nevada Water Authority has turned its sights on its 60% share of the water in the Snake Valley. The problem with this state-border aquifer, though, is the 40% share belonging to Utah. Doug is joined by Matt Jenkins of High Country News, along with officials from both states and concerned Utahns, for a conversation about the process of an agreement and the impact of ever-increasing water demands.
