10/9/06:George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – When George Orwell wrote his dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, he extrapolated the fears of the late 40s into a totalitarian world. Whether you agree that we are living in an Orwellian society, a quick scan of today's headlines shows concerns over the invasion of personal privacy, torture and the manipulation of language for political ends still resonate across the globe. Kingsbury Hall is presenting a new stage production of Orwell's classic, and playwright Michael Gene Sullivan and Gary Hatch of BYU's English Department join Doug for a live discussion at the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics.
