The 1924 Democratic Convention took 103 ballots - and some fistfights between governors - before a nominee was decided. The 1912 Republican Convention was so divisive, Taft and Roosevelt hurled brutal public insults at each other. Monday, Doug and political historian Byron Shafer have a civil conversation about the role conventions have played in the Presidential election process - and just what they do for democracy today.
