1/19/09: Sundance - Shouting Fire

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – Monday on RadioWest we continue our coverage of the Sundance Film Festival with another documentary. This is a film from Liz Garbus which explores the state of free speech in this country. Among the stories in her film is the case of Ward Churchill who was fired as a tenured professor at the University of Colorado after he made provocative comments about the attacks on 9/11. Garbus asks questions about the limits of speech in a free society but also gets at the nature of fear.

  • Shouting Fire: Stories from the Edge of Free Speech premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. at the Temple Theatre in Park City. Screenings continue throughout the week, and for details, click here
  • This Thursday, the ACLU of Utah will host a special reception for Martin Garbus and Liz Garbus at the Salt Lake Art Center in downtown Salt Lake City. For details and to RSVP, you can call 521-9862 or click here
