Salt Lake City, Utah – Folklorist and musician Hal Cannon has spent much of his career telling other people's stories. He creates documentaries and features for NPR, he's the founding director of the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, and he's played with a variety of bands in the region. But all along, he says, he was in the closet writing his own tunes. Now, Cannon's produced his first album of all original work, and Thursday he joins us in studio to talk about and to play his music.
