AAA dispatchers answer call 24/7 and send roadside assistance to nearly 200,000 Utah members.

Roadside assistance company AAA announced plans Wednesday to open a new call center in Clearfield. The plans include hiring nearly 600 dispatchers and supervisors.

Rolayne Fairclough is the spokesperson for the Northern California, Nevada, Utah Region. She says this is a regional expansion of just under 30%.

“It’s a brand new service center,” says Fairclough, “We had a third party vender do it for a while and now we’re bringing the whole function back into the company.”

Fairclough says due to the complexity of the change-over of the around-the-clock service, completion will take place in phases beginning with training.

“Our opening, so to speak, will be starting in April, we’ll have a grand opening in the summer,” she says, “but then we anticipate to be fully operational by the first of next year.”

Fairclough says Utah's workforce is skilled in services the company provides.  She says Utahns have technical and multilingual talents that are unique in the country. AAA reports 4.2 million members in the 3-state region including almost 200,000 in Utah.
