Splitting School Districts
By Dan Bammes
Salt Lake City, UT – This fall, residents of several cities in Salt Lake County could find themselves voting on the question of whether to form new school districts that follow their municipal boundaries... and abandon the large districts that have traditionally covered both the east and west sides of the valley. But former Utah Governor Norm Bangerter thinks the idea needs a lot more study. And he feels everybody ought to vote on it -- those who will be left behind as well as those who might benefit from the change. Bangerter is a life-long resident of Salt Lake County's west side. He's part of a group called the Oquirrh Alliance that advocates for the interests of western Salt Lake County. He spoke to KUER's Dan Bammes.
