New Rabbi Chosen for Park City Synagogue

Chicago Sinai Congregation
Rabbi David Levinsky

Temple Har Shalom in Park City has announced the selection of a new rabbi.  David Levinsky will be coming to Utah from a much larger synagogue in Chicago.

Rabbi Levinsky was one of several candidates to replace Josh Aaronson, who took over as senior rabbi at Temple Judea inTarzana, California last year.  Levinsky says he’s excited by the opportunity to serve a growing congregation in Park City.  He earned a PhD in religious studies from Stanford, but he spent eight years prior to that playing rock and roll.

“I think some of the appeal that I had with the congregation is that I do know how to play guitar and I can bring music to the services as well," Rabbi Levinsky told KUER.  "I know that’s something that Josh did.  And, obviously, I’m going to do it in  my own way.”

Rabbi Levinsky will stay with the Chicago Sinai Congregation until July of 2015, but he’s planning several visits to Utah before then.  Rabbi Jim Simon will continue to serve Temple Har Shalom in the interim.
