About 14,000 children in the Salt Lake Valley go hungry over the weekend and during the summer when school lunch programs are unavailable to them. This spring, KUER is partnering with the non-profit organization KidsEat Utah as our Social Good Partner. Every week, KidsEat sends more than 800 bags full of nutritionally-balanced, non-perishable meals home with hungry children to guarantee them snacks and meals over the weekend and in the evenings. These 'buddy bags' are distributed discretely to kids through a network of more than 30 schools, 6 Boys & Girls Clubs, DDI Head Start, Neighborhood House, and the Sandy Club For Kids.
During our fall fund drive, you can designate to have a portion of your donation supply KidsEat Buddy Bags to children in Utah:
- For $60 or $5/month, you can provide 1 buddy bag filled with meals
- For $120 or $10/month, you can provide 2 buddy bags filled with meals
- For $240 or $20/month, you can provide 4 buddy bags filled with meals
