Utah could be one of the first states to greenlight a student taskforce that helps lawmakers write AI policy for the classroom.

AI chatbots have become the bane of teachers everywhere. But a growing number of U.S. public schools are now encouraging a new strategy: Bringing AI into the classroom, partly so students can see its shortcomings.

The main functions of the office will be to examine pressing AI issues, make recommendations to lawmakers and help companies when they run into regulatory issues.

The Utah State Board of Education has debated requiring that school districts hand over this information to charters. Without any agreement, they’re going back to the drawing board
