Wendover

Driver Chris Raschke was treated Sunday by medical professionals at the popular land-speed racing event known as “Speed Week,” but died from his injuries. Raschke lost control of the vehicle about two and a half miles into a run.

A stone’s throw from modern day Wendover, Danger Cave is a time capsule into the lives of some of the earliest people to call Utah home.

The prehistoric lakebed has long been a mecca for daredevil speed racers, as well as a backdrop for famous movie scenes and destination for selfie-seeking tourists.
