Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz is doing well after undergoing emergency surgery.
A spokewoman for Chaffetz says the Congressman was resting comfortably Thursday after a medical procedure to his foot.
Chaffetz was admitted to the University of Utah Hospital to resolve a complication from an injury he sustained 12 years ago after falling from a ladder.
The 50-year-old Republican lawmaker posted an X-ray to his social media account this week showing a plate and several large screws in his heel.
He said he would be taking leave from Congress for three to four weeks in order to recover from the surgery.
The news came just a week after he announced he would not run for re-election and may leave before his term is up.
His spokeswoman says he will spend the next couple of days at the hospital before returning home.
This story has been updated from a previous version to reflect Chaffetz's current condition.
