McAdams Files To Run For 4th Congressional District
Today is the first day to file for candidacy for all state and federal races in Utah. In one of the more closely watched races, Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams filed paperwork this morning to unseat Congresswoman Mia Love.
McAdams arrived at the Utah Elections Office this morning with his family in tow. He’s arguably the highest-profile Democrat in the state and he’s made a name for himself working with Republicans at the state and county levels. He says that will be his edge in the race against conservative Mia Love in Utah’s 4th Congressional District.
“I believe that the experience that I have and the track record that I have working across party lines to balance budgets to solve problems, that’s something that’s desperately needed in Washington,” he says.
Dave Hansen, Love’s campaign manager isn’t worried. He says Love has served the district well and adds voters there want less government in their lives.
McAdams will likely face several other Democratic candidates at the party’s convention next month — three others have also declared.
