7/29/08: Turf War

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, UT – It's no secret that Americans love their lawns. In fact, turf in the U.S. covers an area roughly the size of New York state. But as water becomes more scarce and chemical treatments more toxic, an anti-lawn movement is sprouting. Some are questioning whether we should keep our finely-manicured grass or plant gardens instead. On Tuesday, Doug talks lawns with The New Yorker's Elizabeth Kolbert about her recent piece "Turf War," and Ted Steinberg, author of "American Green: The Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Lawn."
