5/13/10: The Return of the Militia Movement

By Doug Fabrizio

Salt Lake City, Utah – The Southern Poverty Law Center monitors extremist groups around the country, and in their latest report, they say that the radical right has caught fire over the last year. There are some 363 new "Patriot groups" and of those, 127 are militias. The Center's Mark Potok calls them "the most volatile elements on the American political landscape." Thursday, we're talking about the militia movement - where they come from, why they're gaining numbers and what to expect from them next.

Today's Guests:

  • Mark Potok, Director, Intelligence Project
  • Catherine McNicol Stock, Chair of the History Department, Connecticut College
