2020 has been a stressful year for many. And with a contentious election cycle, the election and its aftermath are shaping up to be stressful as well. Here’s a look at some of the strategies and resources people can use to feel better.

Most Utahns will be voting by mail this election. After ballots get dropped off or mailed back, they’re verified and processed by staff at county clerks’ offices.
-
4 days before the election, voter turnout in Utah is at 50%. Voting early is particularly important this year, according to elections officials, to avoid crowding on Election Day.
-
Salt Lake County increased the number of Election Day polling locations since 2016 and chose larger venues to accommodate social distancing. But the county clerk is still worried about overcrowding.
-
Money is pouring into Utah’s 4th Congressional District, as one of the most competitive seats in the country. But Utah’s 1st District? Not so much.
-
Mail from Southern Utah is often postmarked in the northern part of the state, which has some election officials telling people to get their ballots in sooner rather than later. But the U.S. Postal Service will postmark ballots locally if it’s close to Election Day.

Amendment G is one of seven state constitutional changes voters can decide on this November. It would expand how income tax revenue — which right now can only go to public education — can be spent to include supporting services for children and people with disabilities. It would also trigger a companion bill that increases education funding each year to match student enrollment growth and inflation.

The election is just 11 days away, and there are a lot of misconceptions about voting Utahns might have to wade through. Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen helped break down what’s fact and what’s fiction.

Sen. Deidre Henderson, R-Spanish Fork, and Democrat Karina Brown are running for Utah lieutenant governor. One of their main responsibilities if elected would be overseeing elections.
