Charles Ellis Johnson and the Erotic Mormon Image (University of Chicago Press) by Mary Campbell chronicles the Mormon Church’s turn-of-the-century efforts to enter the American religious mainstream. Johnson photographed famous Mormon leaders, and he also sold mail-order erotica.
