Utah Obamacare Enrollment Up More Than 400%

The number of Utahns who have signed up for health insurance through the federal exchange quadrupled last month.  That’s according to federal enrollment data released Wednesday morning.

More than 1,800 Utahns have purchased health insurance on the exchange. That’s up from the 357 who signed up in October during healthcare-dot-gov’s troubled rollout.  The ratio reflects the national increase in enrollment, and the numbers suggest there will be more. About 33,000 Utahns have applications pending. Of those, more than 8000 were determined to be eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The deadline for enrollment is December 23rd to begin coverage on January 1st.  Last year, about 376,000 Utahns did not have health insurance.
