Applications are now closed.

The Next Generation Radio program is a one week, free, digital-first project targeting college students, recent graduates and early-career professionals.

KUER is thrilled to host the NextGenRadio program again this summer. This project, held from August 1 - 6, will all be done virtually. Applications are due Friday, July 16 at midnight MDT. Learn more and apply at nextgenradio.org

NPR's Next Generation Radio is designed to give competitively selected participants, who are interested in podcasting, narrative audio storytelling, radio reporting and visual journalism, the skills and opportunity to find and produce their own multimedia story.

Each selected participant is paired with a professional journalist and together they find, report, and produce a non-narrated story as well as use stills and videos that enhance their work.

Because it’s virtual, students/early career journalists with an interest in radio/broadcast to apply from all over, they don’t have to be on the Wasatch Front. We also encourage students whose internships were cancelled due to COVID-19 to apply. Even though it’s only a week-long program, students make meaningful connections within the nextgenradio family, where most of its participants have gone on to work in public media. You can take a look at last year's projects here.

Please contact Katherine Ellis via kellis@kuer.org with any questions.

KUER is listener-supported public radio. Support this work by making a donation today.
